Dear Recruiter:

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our next BCN Career Fair scheduled for October 21, 2008. Based on the success of our previous career fairs, this has become the most popular way to recruit our students. Last February's fair brought 116 construction companies. In addition to interviewing students that are graduating in December, the fair is also an excellent opportunity to contact students who are looking for summer or semester intern positions. You can register on-line for the fair now. Please go to www.bcn.ufl.edu and click on the Career Fair quick link.

As in the past, we are inviting other departments from within the University, such as Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Real Estate, Architecture etc. We are also inviting other schools outside the University (i.e. students from the construction program at Santa Fe Community College, the University of North Florida, University of Central Florida, and Florida A&M) to attend. Our intention is to provide you with a larger pool of candidates from which to choose.

The following is a tentative agenda for career fair:

Monday, October 20

3:30 pm - 5:30 pm  Major Donor's Reception (Location -- TBD)
(Companies who have donated $10,000 or more to the school for the last three years)
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm  Recruiter Reception -- (Location - Emerson Hall)

Tuesday, October 21- O'Connell Center

7:00 am  Recruiter Check-In / Continental Breakfast
9:25 am  Greeting from the Director
9:30 am  Career Fair Begins
11:30 am - 1:30 pm  Lunch
1:30 pm  Career Fair Ends / Load-out Begins (No Early Breakdowns)
2:00 pm  Individual Interviews Begin
6:00 pm  Individual Interviews End

Major Donor's Reception: The Major Donor's Reception on Monday, October 20th, 2008 from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm and is open only to our Major Donors. This reception provides them with a chance to meet our graduating seniors.

Recruiter's Reception: The Recruiters Reception scheduled for Monday, October 20th, 2008 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm is open to all recruiters. Appetizers and drinks will be served.

Career Fair Booklet: As we did in the spring, we will hand out a booklet a week before the Career Fair, to all BCN students. The booklet will have a brief description of each company, the type of contractor, company locations, what the company is interviewing for, and the positions available within the company. The booklet will allow students to research the companies prior to attending the fair. Please email a brief company description, no more than 1-2 paragraphs, to kimms@ufl.edu. Please send your Company Information to me by September 1, 2008.

Payment: We request that all registration fees be paid by Thursday, October 2, 2008. Refunds will not be issued after this date.

Interviews / Information Sessions: If you would like to schedule on campus interviews and/or seminars any time after October 27th, please contact me to set up a time. Should your company choose to partake in interviews the day of the career fair, please RSVP that your company would like an interview space. Spaces are limited and will be reserved on a first come bases, with priority to our Major Donors. Recruiters will be responsible, throughout the morning, for signing up candidates for their afternoon interviews. On campus interviews before the career fair are limited to Major Donors.

Parking: Parking for the career fair will be located in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center Parking Garage. We have reserved the top floor of the garage for recruiters. Parking is limited so please carpool if possible. The Stephen C. O'Connell Center is located at the corner of Gale Lemerand Drive & West University Ave.

Shipping Information: If you are sending your display ahead of time please send it to University of Florida, M. E. Rinker School of Building Construction, 304 Rinker Hall Gainesville, FL 32611-5703. To ensure that your display makes it to your booth location, please have them here by noon Friday, October 17th. Also, please make sure your package is clearly labeled with your company name. We will arrange for your items to be shipped from the O'Connell Center to another location, via Fed-Ex Express only! We will provide shipping labels at the fair. Please do not plan on shipping your items using another carrier.

We would like to emphasize that you do not break down your booths prior to 1:30pm. This gives everyone an opportunity to visit with all booths. We are providing you with this information so you can arrange your travel plans accordingly. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Kim Stanley at (352) 273-1187.

Again, please note that the number of companies at the Fall 2008 career fair will be limited to approximately 118 companies so please return your applications early to ensure your space is available.
