Central – Orlando
The Central Florida Gator BCN Club hosted a wonderful 70th Anniversary celebration on November 17, 2007 at the J.W. Marriott Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, Florida. The keynote speaker for the event was Alex Martins, who is the current Chief Operating Officer for the Orlando Magic basketball team. The presiding mayor of Orlando, Mayor Buddy Dyer, also made a cameo appearance via a pre-recorded videotaped message. Other speakers during the evening included Dean Christopher Silver and Dr. Abdol Chini. The Orlando Gator BCN Club raised $126,000 towards the 70th Anniversary Endowed Professorship.
Items included in the live auction were: an Orlando Magic Basketball signed by Carlos Arroyo, a Gator Helmet signed by Danny Wuerffel, an Emmitt Smith signed football, two annual Universal Studios passes, and 2008 Tickets to the UF/LSU football game on the 50-Yard line West Stands. There was also a raffle during the evening, which included the following items: an Orlando Magic Picture in a frame signed by Hedo Turkoglu, an Orlando Magic Hat signed by Keyon Dooling (guard), an Orlando Magic Jersey from Carlos Arroyo, a Highlands Golf Foursome Ticket package, an Eagle Creek Golf Foursome, an XG9 Odyssey Putter, and a Gator Golf Bag.
